My Day at Silver Fork Vineyard and Winery
Have you ever gotten lost and had it change your entire plan for the day?
That’s what happened to me last weekend. The day just got off to a frustrating start and I didn’t end up where I envisioned myself. Hey, sometimes this happens in your life too.
It was all okay though because I did end up somewhere wonderful.
Silver Fork Vineyard and Winery is located high on a hill just outside of Morganton, NC. The tasting room and patio take advantage of stunning views of the South Mountains.
The wine isn’t bad either; it’s fabulous.
Named after two intersecting creeks, Silver Creek and White Fork, Silver Fork Vineyard and Winery has been growing grapes since 1992. There are 9 different varieties of vines grown in a wonderful microclimate to produce some of North Caroline’s most delightful and pleasing grapes.
Visit the wonderful Arts and Crafts tasting room and select your favorite.
Purchase a glass or a bottle and pull up a chair and relax in the beautiful English inspired garden or luxuriate by the outside fire pit.
Choose from a variety of activities offered throughout the week. There is live music most weekends, a ballroom dancing series and movie night in the vineyard just to name a few.
If you’re hungry after all that wine tasting, not a problem.
Farm to Fork Eatery is a food truck that stays parked on the premises. Run by Betty Sperry, the eatery offers a small but excellent menu.
I had the crustless quiche and salad and it was perfect for a light late afternoon lunch.
There are also wine recommendations to go along with every meal.
If you find yourself in Western North Carolina near the South Mountains be sure and plan a visit to the Silver Fork Winery.
