French Broad Chocolate is a sweet institution in downtown Asheville.
It is a supremely happy eatery where all your chocolate dreams can come true!
It was founded in by Dan and Jael Rattigan, two entrepreneurs who married, moved to Costa Rica, started a successful restaurant and eventually bought a cacao farm.
After leaving Costa Rica and moving to Asheville they first sold their fabulous chocolates at farmers markets and online. Popularity soon followed and they opened The French Broad Chocolate Lounge in 2008.
The company supports green sustainable practices in everything they do. You can find out more about their story and business practices by visiting their website at French Broad Chocolate.
Walking in the door produces lots of excitement for the patrons. There are wonderful choices available for any chocoholic and a cosy and comfortable environment to enjoy your purchases.
Wonderful cakes, cookies and brownies are all available as well as gluten free options. If you prefer something cool and creamy, ice cream is available too. There are cool drinks blended with chocolate and carmel…well you get the picture.
The truffle options are to die for! I wish I could just try them all or at least take them home to enjoy!
If you only want a small treat, the liquid truffle is perfect.
Sweet, creamy and very thick, they give you a spoon to eat it with, delightful!
Take a seat on the sofa, put your feet up and enjoy your sweet chocolate treat.
There is also a small retail store if you want to take a little French Broad Chocolate home with you.
If you find yourself in Asheville, make your way to Pack Square and enjoy a little piece of chocolate heaven.
Love, peace and chocolate,
